SoloShelf is built with a simple philosophy: your library is your own business. We believe you shouldn't have to sacrifice your personal data to organize your books. Because of this, SoloShelf does not use accounts, does not track your behavior, and does not collect or store your personal information on any external servers.

Information We Do Not Collect

We do not collect, store, or share any personal data.

• No Accounts: You do not need to create an account or log in to use SoloShelf.
• No Behavioral Tracking: We do not track what you tap, how long you use the app, or what books you add to your shelves.
• No Analytics: There are no third-party analytics frameworks, advertising trackers, or telemetry scripts embedded in the app.

Where Your Data Lives

All of your library data, reading progress, and book lists are stored locally on your device. If you choose to enable iCloud syncing, your data is synced securely across your personal devices via Apple's iCloud infrastructure. We have no access to this data.

Open Library Integration

To help you look up book details and scan barcodes, SoloShelf connects directly to Open Library (an initiative of the Internet Archive), a free public book catalog. When you search for a title, enter an ISBN, or scan a barcode, the app sends a request directly from your device to Open Library's public API.

• What they see: Because requests happen directly from your device, Open Library will receive your device's IP address and the specific title or ISBN you searched for.
• What we see: SoloShelf does not intercept, log, or store these requests. Your search history never touches a SoloShelf server.

In-App Donations

All financial transactions are processed securely by Apple through standard App Store In-App Purchases. SoloShelf does not collect or have access to your credit card information, billing address, or any financial details.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect minor architectural changes. Any updates will be posted within the app and on this page, with the effective date updated at the top.

Welcome to SoloShelf! By downloading, installing, or using the SoloShelf mobile application ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the App.

Purpose and Scope

SoloShelf is a minimalist, privacy-first book tracking application provided to you as a personal utility tool to organize and track your reading log.

Privacy and Data Storage

Your privacy is paramount.

• Local Storage: All library data, book details, and reading logs you input are stored locally on your device.
• Cloud Syncing: If you choose to enable iCloud syncing, your data is synced securely across your personal devices via Apple's iCloud infrastructure.
• No Developer Access: The developer does not host external databases, collect, store, or have any access to your library data, search history, or personal information.

Open Library Integration

SoloShelf uses the Open Library API (a public service of the Internet Archive) to provide book metadata lookups, keyword searches, and book cover images. By using these features, you acknowledge and agree that:

• Direct Requests: Search queries, ISBN lookups, and barcode scans trigger direct network requests from your device to Open Library, naturally exposing your device's IP address and queried data to Open Library.
• Service Availability & Accuracy: SoloShelf relies on Open Library's public servers and does not guarantee uninterrupted access to book lookups. Book metadata is crowd-sourced and provided "as-is"; SoloShelf is not responsible for inaccurate, incomplete, or missing book information.
• Copyright & Intellectual Property: Book cover artwork and catalog data are sourced directly from Open Library's community repository. SoloShelf does not claim ownership over any retrieved content. Copyright removal requests must be directed to Open Library / The Internet Archive.

In-App Donations and Financials

SoloShelf is a free tool supported entirely by voluntary user donations.

• No Paywalls: Donations are purely optional and do not unlock exclusive features or create a premium tier.
• Payment Processing: All donations are handled securely through Apple's In-App Purchase infrastructure. SoloShelf does not collect, process, or store your financial or credit card information.
• No Refunds: Because donations are voluntary contributions to support ongoing development, they are non-refundable.

Acceptable Use

You agree to use SoloShelf only for lawful, personal, and non-commercial purposes. You agree not to:

• Attempt to disrupt, reverse-engineer, modify, or hack the App's local binary or network calls.
• Use the App or its underlying API connections to spam, scrape, or flood third-party services (including Open Library).

Disclaimer of Warranties

SOLOSHELF IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS, WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. THE DEVELOPER DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL BE BUG-FREE, UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE, OR ACCURATE.

Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL THE DEVELOPER OF SOLOSHELF BE LIABLE FOR ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF DATA, LOSS OF PROFITS, OR DEVICE DAMAGE, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OR INABILITY TO USE THE APP, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

Changes to These Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Any changes will be updated directly within the App with the revised effective date at the top. Your continued use of the App after updates are posted constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms.
